This course offers the participant the opportunity to develop and strengthen the theoretical and practical field of prosthetic care after transtibial (TT) amputation.
This course provides broad knowledge and skills in the fabrication of condylar suspended transtibial prostheses with a soft inner socket. Further more, liner techniques for transtibial prosthetic designs and the application of high dynamic prosthetic feet complete this comprehensive program.
Focus of the theoretical content:
- Fundamentals of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology
- Amputation techniques and indications
- Comparative options of prosthetic design and concept
- Alignment principles
- Biomechanics / human gait
- Overview about liner systems and TT components
- Material Science
Focus of the practical seminar content:
- Manufacture and fitting of two types of prostheses after TT amputation
- in supra-condylar suspension technique and a prosthesis with Liner technique
- Patient Anamnesis
- Measurement and Casting Techniques
- Plaster positive rectification
- Production process
- Alignment principles
- Fitting/Testing and application of necessary corrections (problem solving)
- Gait analysis
- Outcome measures
